Fincher Announces Military Academy Nominations
Washington, DC – Today, U.S. Representative Stephen Fincher (R-Frog Jump), announced military academy nominations for the U.S. Service Academies. Candidates must be from the 8th district of Tennessee and are chosen based on academic ranking. Candidates will now have to be interviewed by the academy he or she is applying to and pass a physical and medical exam to be considered for an appointment.
Fincher Bill Honoring M.D. Anderson Passes Senate
Washington, DC – Today, U.S. Representative Stephen Fincher (R-Frog Jump), praised the U.S. Senate passage of a bill he sponsored, H.R. 1264, to honor M.D. Anderson, by designating a square in Jackson, TN as the M.D. Anderson Plaza. The bill passed the House and the U.S. Senate and now awaits President Obama’s signature.

Fincher Praises Passage of the Farm Dust Regulation Prevention Act
Washington, DC – Today, U.S. Representative Stephen Fincher (R-Frog Jump) voted in favor of H.R. 1633, which provides certainty to rural America regarding the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) ability to regulate dust. Congressman Fincher is a cosponsor of the bill, which passed the House 268 to 150 earlier today.
Reps. Fincher and Carney Introduce Bipartisan Legislation to Help Small Companies Grow
WASHINGTON — Today, U.S. Representatives Stephen Fincher (R-TN) and John Carney (D-DE) introduced H.R. 3606, the Reopening American Capital Markets to Emerging Growth Companies Act of 2011. The legislation would reduce the costs of going public for small and medium-sized companies by phasing in certain regulatory requirements. Over the last ten years, the number of companies going public has fallen dramatically, hurting the ability of small companies to grow, innovate, and hire new workers.
Fincher Praises Passage of the REINS Act
Washington, DC – Today, U.S. Representative Stephen Fincher (R-Frog Jump), voted in favor of H.R. 10, The REINS Act, which curbs federal spending by requiring congressional approval for any federal regulation with an economic impact of $100 million or more. The bill, which Fincher cosponsored, passed the House today, 241 to 184.
Fincher Praises Passage of H.R. 3010
Washington, DC – Today, U.S. Representative Stephen Fincher (R-Frog Jump), praised passage of HR 3010: the Regulatory Accountability Act. The bill was sponsored by Representative Lamar Smith (R-TX) and passed the House 234 to 167. H.R. 3010 amends the Administrative Procedure Act to include strong cost-benefit, transparency, and accountability requirements. This bill will require federal agencies to do a better job of determining whether regulations are needed, and if they are to find the lowest cost alternative to achieve the goals.

Washington, DC – Yesterday, U.S. Representative Stephen Fincher (R-Frog Jump), voted in favor of H.R. 527, the Regulatory Flexibility Improvements Act. The bill is sponsored by Representative Lamar Smith (R-TX) and passed the House 235 to 159. H.R. 527 amends the Regulatory Flexibility Act and the Small Business Regulatory Enforcement Fairness Act to provide consistency in regulatory analysis.
